On average, 3,000 undergraduate FGCS enroll in UNC-CH each year. FGCS are more likely to come from historically underrepresented groups and low-income families who encounter significant barriers on their path to a degree.
The Finish Line Project includes innovative and evidence-based strategies to help students earn four-year undergraduate degress in a timely and affordable manner. The project contains supports and structures for students of all majors.
The research and implementation of multifaceted programs and supports is a collaborative effort and involves many key partners. The principal investigator of the Finish Line Project is Dr. Abigail Panter (panter@unc.edu).
The project includes a robust research portfolio. The goal of our research is to develop an evidence base of effective practices to improve educational outcomes for first-generation college students.
